Moonmic Data Deletion Guide
First Published: October 22, 2026 · Last Updated: October 22, 2026
Moonmic is used without sign-up or login. There is no account to delete; this page explains where your data lives and how to remove it.
1. A service without accounts
The sounds recorded at night (clips), night records, tags, app settings, and the ownership status of Unlock all features are stored only on your device. The Company operates no server that receives this data, and sound classification also happens only on the device. The only things that leave the device are some bucketed/categorical values and identifiers needed for usage statistics, error diagnostics, and ad display, plus inquiry emails you send yourself; see Section 1 of the Privacy Policy.
2. Deleting data on your device
- One clip at a time: in the clip list, swipe the clip to the left to delete it. The audio file and the clip's information (time, duration, sound level, label) are deleted together.
- Everything: delete the app, and all clips, night records, tags, settings, and the purchase-status record are removed from the device. There is currently no function in the app to delete a night record on its own.
- Automatic deletion: in free use, clip files are deleted automatically 30 days after the night they were recorded (favorited clips are kept). Once you purchase Unlock all features the default becomes unlimited, and you can shorten it to 30 days under Settings → Clip storage → Keep clips for (the app first shows how many clips will be deleted). The night's summary numbers and labels remain after the file is deleted.
- This app's storage is excluded from iCloud and computer backups and from Android auto-backup and device-to-device transfer, so nothing is revived from a backup. The Company has no access to operating-system backups.
- Exported clip files must be deleted on the side of the app or person you sent them to. The file name contains the date and time the clip was recorded.
3. Information the Company holds, and deletion requests
The only information the Company receives directly is the inquiry you send by email (its content, the sender's email address, the app version and operating-system information the app pre-fills in the subject and body, a receipt number you provide for a refund inquiry, and so on). The app has no inquiry-sending feature; Settings → Privacy → Contact us only opens your mail app. Inquiry emails are received by Mailgun (United States) and forwarded to the Company's mailbox system (server in Seoul, Republic of Korea), where they are kept in the Company's mailbox. Reply emails from the Company are also sent through Mailgun (Privacy Policy, Sections 5 and 6).
To have it deleted, write to the contact point below. Information that no longer needs to be kept is deleted without delay. General inquiries are kept for 1 year after the reply is complete; records of consumer complaints and dispute handling for 3 years under the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. of Korea; and transaction records subject to a statutory retention duty for 5 years — kept separately from other information and then destroyed (Privacy Policy, Section 3(c)). Our reply to your request will tell you which items are kept for which period.
4. Information processed by external providers
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) — turning off Settings → Privacy → Send usage statistics and error reports stops all statistics collection, and the setting persists across launches. Statistics already sent contain no recordings, clips, file names, times at which sounds occurred, or tags, and user- and event-level data is deleted automatically after 2 months. To request deletion of a specific installation's records, include what you can provide — device model, OS version, app version, approximate time of use (the app does not display the app instance ID, so we do not ask for it). Records that can be identified are deleted; where they cannot be, we explain why and when they will be deleted automatically.
- Advertising identifiers and ad data (Google AdMob) — on Android you can reset or delete the advertising ID and turn off ad personalization under device Settings → Google → Ads. On iOS you can withdraw tracking permission for Moonmic under device Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, your ad-consent choice is stored on the device by Google's consent management platform; it is removed when you delete the app and you are asked again on the next installation. You can change that choice under Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options in the app, and in certain U.S. states the same menu lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for personalized ads (in all other regions this menu does not appear). If you start the app while owning Unlock all features, the ad SDK is not started. Rights regarding ad data held by Google are exercised under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Error diagnostics and app session information (Sentry, EU region in Germany) — error reports are sent when an error occurs, and session information (app version, device, OS, and whether the run ended without a crash) when the app is launched; neither includes recordings, clips, file paths, tags, or sound-level values. Turning off Send usage statistics and error reports shuts down the error-collection tool itself, so nothing is sent — not sessions, not native crashes. Error reports are deleted automatically 30 days after collection, and records that can be identified by the time of the error, device model, and so on are deleted first in the console on request.
- Receiving inquiry emails and sending replies (Mailgun Technologies, Inc., United States) — inquiry emails and the Company's replies are forwarded and sent through Mailgun. Mailgun does not store the message body (it is stored only in the Company's mailbox); processing records (sender and recipient addresses, subject, time, and processing result) may remain with Mailgun for up to 30 days under Mailgun's retention policy. To delete inquiries and replies kept in the Company's mailbox, make a request as described in Section 3.
5. Paid product purchase records
The purchase record for Unlock all features belongs to the Apple App Store or Google Play account that processed the payment. After reinstalling, you can reapply it with Settings → Restore purchase (you must use the same store account as for the purchase). Deletion of purchase records kept by the app stores follows each store's policies.
