Sound Meter Data Deletion
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Sound Meter is used without sign-up or login. There is no account to delete; this page explains where your data is and how to delete it.
1. The Service has no accounts
Measurement records, recording files (if you turned recording on in Settings), and settings are all stored only on your device. The Company does not operate servers that receive measurement records, recording files, or settings, and does not collect this data.
2. Deleting data on your device
- A single record: delete the session from the record list in the app — its linked recording file is deleted with it
- Everything: delete the app, and all measurement records, recording files, and settings are removed
- Exported PDF and CSV files must be deleted by you from wherever you saved or shared them
3. Information the Company holds and deletion requests
The only information the Company receives is the inquiries you send (their contents, attachments, and your email address if you entered one). This applies whether you sent them through Settings → Contact us in the app or by email. If you want them deleted, please make a request to the contact below. We will destroy them without delay.
4. Information processed by third parties
- Advertising identifier (Google) — you can reset your Advertising ID or turn off personalized ads in your device settings; on iOS you can withdraw tracking permission in the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
- Error diagnostic information and app-launch session information (Sentry) — error reports are sent when an error occurs, and app-launch session information (app version, device and operating system, and whether that run ended without a crash) is sent when the app is launched; neither contains audio or measurement files. Error reports are automatically deleted 30 days after collection, and app-launch session information follows the provider's retention policy. Details are in Sections 1(c) and 3(b) of the Privacy Policy.
- Inquiry email (Mailgun Technologies, Inc., United States) — inquiries you send by email and reply emails from the Company (including replies to in-app inquiries) are received and sent by Mailgun. The message body is not stored with Mailgun but only in the Company's mailbox (server in Seoul, Republic of Korea). Processing records (sender and recipient addresses, subject, time, and processing result) may remain with Mailgun for up to 30 days under Mailgun's retention policy. Inquiries kept in the Company's mailbox are destroyed upon the request described in 3 above. Details are in Sections 5 and 6 of the Privacy Policy.
5. Purchase records for Paid Products
Remove Ads purchase records belong to the Apple App Store or Google Play account that processed the payment. After reinstalling, you can re-apply the purchase with Restore purchases (support products are consumable and cannot be restored). Deletion of purchase records is governed by each app store's policies.
