CodeSand Co., Ltd. Launches 'Noise Meter' for Android to Keep a Record of Neighbor Noise

Saying "it's loud" does not, by itself, become a record. On August 7, 2026, CodeSand Co., Ltd. launched 'Noise Meter' on Google Play, an app that turns those words into numbers and documents. It is an Android-only app that measures ambient noise in decibels with the smartphone microphone, compares the accumulated records with a reference line, and exports them as a PDF report.

Measure, keep and compare

The measurement screen calculates decibels with A-weighting, which reflects the sensitivity of the human ear, and shows the 1-minute equivalent sound level (Leq), the maximum sound level (Lmax), and the minimum, average and maximum values. When you stop and save a measurement, it is kept as a session; if you note the place and the type of noise at that time, you can filter by type later. It uses the categories that actually matter in daily life, such as footsteps, doors closing and TV sound.

Reports compared with reference lines

Reports by period gather measurement dates, times of day and noise types to show patterns, and calculate daytime and nighttime separately. For comparison, you can choose the Korean apartment housing reference line or the WHO reference line, or view the measurements without any reference line. The number of times the reference line was exceeded is shown as well. Reports can be exported as PDFs with measurement dates and times, statistics and the reference line comparison, and raw data can also be exported as CSV.

When turned on in settings, an optional recording feature saves sound during measurement as m4a files. It is off by default, and saved files remain only on the device. The app language can be chosen separately from the phone language, and 50 languages are supported.

Not a substitute for certified measurement

CodeSand makes clear that this app is a tool that shows reference values. Microphone sensitivity differs from device to device and is affected by where the phone is placed and by its case, so the app lets you adjust a calibration value within ±10 dB in settings, and the report records the calibration value applied at that time. This app does not replace measurement with a certified sound level meter and does not determine whether any law has been violated. An official determination is possible only through measurement according to the method prescribed by law.

Because the app has no account, measurement records and recordings are stored only on the device and are not sent anywhere. Records can be deleted individually in the app and are removed when the app is deleted. The app is free and includes Google AdMob ads.

Noise Meter is currently available only on Google Play, and an iOS version is in preparation.
