Hanjjok Terms of Service

First Published: May 29, 2026 · This Revision Published: August 25, 2026

1. Purpose and Definitions

The purpose of these Terms is to set out the conditions and procedures for using the mobile application "Hanjjok" (the "Service") provided by CodeSand Co., Ltd. (the "Company"), together with the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and users.

  • Service: the features provided by the Hanjjok app for viewing HWP / HWPX / PDF documents, converting them to PDF, printing, extracting text, sharing, and the like.
  • User: any person who agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
  • Paid Product: the ad-removal product sold through in-app purchase on the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  • Device: the smartphone or tablet on which a user installs and runs the Service.
  • Document: a file a user opens with the Service, together with the PDF, image, or text output generated from that file through the Service.

2. Effect and Amendment of the Terms

These Terms take effect upon being posted on the Service website, and users may view them at any time from the settings menu in the app.

The Company may amend these Terms to the extent that the amendment does not violate applicable laws.

Changes that are not unfavorable to users are posted on the Service website with the details of the amendment and the effective date, and take effect upon posting. Feature additions, wording improvements, clarification of collected or used items, and correction of clerical errors fall into this category.

Changes that are unfavorable to users are posted on the Service website with the details of the amendment and the effective date at least 30 days before the effective date. Changes that reduce users' rights or impose new obligations, discontinuation of features previously provided, and reduction of refund conditions fall into this category.

If a user continues to use the Service after the effective date of an amended version of these Terms, the user is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms. A user who does not agree may stop using the Service at any time, and termination of the use agreement is governed by Section 11.

3. Provision of the Service

The Company provides the features necessary to achieve the purpose of the Service. The specific composition of each feature and how to use it are explained on the app's screens, and the list below is an illustration intended to describe the nature of the Service; it does not limit the features the Company provides.

  • Viewing HWP, HWPX, and PDF documents (document processing takes place only inside the device)
  • Exporting to PDF or images, and printing
  • Extracting body text and copying or sharing it
  • Managing the list of documents held on the device
  • Other features the Company additionally develops or provides through partnerships

The Service is a tool for opening and checking documents you have received and for exporting them in another format; it is not a program for creating or editing documents. The specific limits of each feature are set out in Section 4.

The Company may change, add, or discontinue individual features in order to improve the quality of the Service and operate it stably. However, changes that have a material effect on users, such as discontinuation of the entire Service, are posted in advance by the method set out in Section 2.

As a rule the Service is provided year-round without interruption, but it may be suspended temporarily where there is substantial cause, such as system maintenance, equipment replacement, or a failure of an external service. In that case the Company gives notice in advance to the extent possible and resumes the Service without delay once the cause is resolved. However, because the Service does not keep user data on a server, as a rule such a suspension does not affect use of the data stored on the device.

If the Company discontinues provision of the Service as a whole, it gives notice by posting on the Service website at least 30 days in advance. Users can check the documents and output stored on their device before the discontinuation.

4. Limits of the Service and User Responsibility

This section must be read before using the Service. The Service has the following limits, and users use the Service with an understanding of them. Section 13 (Disclaimer) is premised on this section.

a. The rendered result may differ from the original formatting

  • If a font used in a document is not present on the device, it is substituted with another font, and as a result letter spacing, line breaks, and page breaks may differ from the original.
  • Tables, shapes, charts, equations, headers and footers, footnotes, and other special objects may be rendered in a position, size, or shape that differs from the original, or may not be rendered at all.
  • Depending on the program and version used to create the document and on the file format, only part of a document may be rendered, or the document may fail to open.
  • Password-protected documents and files corrupted in transit cannot be opened.

The Company continuously improves its document processing engine to increase rendering accuracy, but does not warrant that every document will be reproduced 100% identically to the original.

b. The rendered result must not be relied on as identical to the original

For documents whose accuracy matters — such as contracts, official documents, certificates, statutes and public notices, and bid or filing papers — you must not form a judgment on the basis of the screen shown by the Service alone. The Service is an aid for checking documents quickly and does not replace the legal or official effect of the original. Please be sure to re-verify important details such as amounts, dates, deadlines, and conditions against the original file in a full document program, or with the institution or counterparty that issued or sent the document.

c. Limits of PDF conversion, image export, and printing results

  • PDF conversion and image export compose their output by turning the pages drawn on screen into images. As a result, text selection, search, and copying may not work inside the converted PDF.
  • The rendering differences in a. above are carried over into converted and printed output as well.
  • The paper size, margins, and orientation of the output may differ from the print settings configured in the original document.
  • Printing is carried out through the printing function provided by the operating system, so the final printout depends on the printer's settings, capabilities, and condition.

Before using converted or printed output for an important purpose such as filing, contracting, or recordkeeping, it is the user's responsibility to confirm that the output matches the intended content.

d. Scope of text extraction

Text extraction targets body paragraphs. Characters inside tables, characters within images, and characters contained in other objects may not be included in the result, and for a document composed mainly of images the extraction result may be empty. The Service does not provide a feature for recognizing characters in images (OCR).

e. Scope of editing and saving

The Service does not provide features for editing or modifying documents, and does not alter the contents of a document a user opens. A document received from another app or brought in by the user's selection is kept as a copy in the app's internal storage, and deleting it from the app's document list deletes that copy (the original file in another app or elsewhere on the device is not affected).

f. Responsibility for managing data

The Service operates no server that stores users' documents, and documents and settings are stored only inside the device. Because the Company does not store users' documents, it does not provide backup, recovery, or migration features. If data is lost through deletion of the app, resetting, loss, or failure of the device, storage cleanup, or the like, the Company cannot recover it. Please keep important documents in a separate, safe location.

5. Modes of Use and Accounts

The Service is used without an account. The Company does not provide sign-up, sign-in, or cloud synchronization, and does not create an account that identifies a user. These Terms apply from the moment a user installs and runs the app.

The documents a user opens, the output they convert or extract, and the app's settings values are all stored only inside the device and are not transmitted to the Company's servers. Information transmitted externally on a limited basis for advertising delivery and error diagnosis is governed by Sections 8 and 12, and information a user enters or attaches themselves when sending an in-app inquiry is governed by Section 15.

Because there is no account, access control over the documents stored on the device depends on the security of the user's device. It is the user's responsibility to manage their device — lock settings, loss, use by others, and so on — so that documents are not exposed to third parties. For the same reason, if a user changes devices or reinstalls the app, the documents and settings from the previous device are not carried over.

Where a Paid Product has been purchased, the resulting right is attached not to a Service account but to the store account used for the payment, and the method of restoration is governed by Section 9.

If the Company introduces an account feature or a synchronization feature in the future, it will post the details and the effective date in accordance with Section 2 before the introduction.

6. User Obligations and Prohibited Acts

Users must comply with applicable laws, these Terms, the usage guidance, and notices the Company posts on the Service website, and must not engage in the following acts.

  • Viewing, converting, printing, or sharing with the Service a document obtained without proper authority
  • Infringing a third party's intellectual property rights such as copyright, trade secrets, or personal information
  • Using information obtained through the Service for commercial purposes by copying, transmitting, publishing, distributing, broadcasting, or any other method without the Company's prior consent, or letting a third party do so
  • Analyzing or modifying the Service by improper means such as reverse engineering, decompilation, or reverse design
  • Circumventing or evading the display of advertising or the payment process for Paid Products, or using the payment or refund process improperly
  • Distributing files containing malicious programs, or interfering with the operation of the Service by abnormal means

It is the user's responsibility to confirm whether they hold lawful authority over the documents they process with the Service.

7. Rights and Responsibilities for Content

Rights in the documents a user opens with the Service and in the output generated from them belong to the user or to the rightful owner. The Company does not collect, view, or store users' documents and acquires no rights whatsoever in their contents. Processing of documents takes place entirely inside the device.

Rights in the Service and the app, the document processing engine, the screen design, trademarks, and the like belong to the Company or to the rightful owner. However, open-source components used in the Service are subject to the conditions of their respective licenses (see Settings > Open source licenses in the app).

The scope in which converted or extracted output may be used follows the rights applicable to the original document. The mere fact that the format was changed through the Service does not expand the user's rights in the original document.

The Service has no features such as boards or comments through which users publish content or exchange it with other users, so no reporting or blocking procedures between users are provided. If the Company introduces such features, it will establish reporting, blocking, and takedown procedures and post them in advance in accordance with Section 2.

8. Advertising

The Company displays Google AdMob advertising in order to keep the Service available at no charge. Advertising is limited to the following two cases.

  • Interstitial ads — at the moment a user receives output, such as PDF conversion, printing, or sharing
  • Rewarded ads — only where a user chooses to watch one on the settings screen; once viewing is complete, no advertising is displayed for 24 hours

No advertising is displayed when the app starts or while a document is being viewed. Whether advertising is shown, how often, and in what units may be adjusted in line with operating policy, and the Company may discontinue advertising delivery entirely. Changes that have a material effect on users, such as introducing a new advertising format, are posted in advance in accordance with Section 2.

Users who have purchased the ad-removal product are not shown advertising.

In regions where consent is required for the use of data for advertising purposes, such as the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, consent is requested before advertising is displayed, and users can change their choice under Ad consent settings in the app's settings. The information processed in connection with advertising is governed by the Privacy Policy.

9. Paid Products, Payment, and Refunds

The Company may offer Paid Products within the Service. The product currently offered is as follows.

  • Remove ads (lifetime) — a non-consumable product that turns off the display of advertising within the Service with a single payment. "Lifetime" here means the period during which the Company provides the Service, and the product continues to apply throughout that period with no further payment. If you change devices or reinstall the app, you can restore it through Settings > Restore purchase using the same store account used for the payment.

The Company may offer additional Paid Products beyond the above, and will post their specific details on the Service's screens. The Company may change the types, prices, or composition of Paid Products or discontinue their sale. However, rights already acquired by users who have completed payment are not retroactively reduced or affected by such changes.

The feature in Section 8 that turns off advertising for 24 hours after watching a rewarded ad is provided free of charge and is not subject to payment.

a. Payment method

Payment for Paid Products is made through the payment methods provided by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Registration of payment methods, payment authorization, billing, and cancellation procedures are subject to the policies of the store the user uses, and the Company does not collect or store payment-method information such as card numbers.

The roles and responsibilities of the Company and of each store operator are determined by applicable laws and the policies of each store. This section does not exclude any responsibility that the Company, as the provider of the Paid Product, bears under applicable laws.

b. Refunds and withdrawal of purchase

Users may request withdrawal of purchase or a refund in accordance with the periods and procedures set out in applicable laws, including the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. of Korea. The routes for making a request are as follows.

  • Apple App Store — reportaproblem.apple.com. Because Apple handles payment and refunds directly, the Company cannot carry out a refund on your behalf; the Company provides verification and cooperation.
  • Google Play — request a refund under Order history in the Play Store app. If the store's procedure does not resolve the matter, let us know through the contact point in Section 15 and the Company can verify the purchase record and process the refund directly.

Under Article 17 of the same Act, a user may withdraw a purchase within 7 days from the date of receiving the written statement (including an electronic document) of the contract terms. However, where supply of the product began later than receipt of that statement, the period is within 7 days from the date supply began. The payment record for a Paid Product is issued by the store immediately upon payment.

Withdrawal of purchase may be restricted under the same Article in the following cases.

  • Where provision of the digital content has begun
  • Where the value of the product has significantly decreased through the user's use of it
  • Where applicable laws otherwise restrict withdrawal of purchase

For the ad-removal product, advertising is turned off immediately upon completion of payment and provision therefore begins at that point, so the first case above may apply. The Company discloses this in advance on the purchase screen, and provides the rewarded ads in Section 8 (advertising turned off for 24 hours after viewing) so that users can try out the Service with advertising turned off before purchasing.

Where a product has been provided differently from how it was labeled or advertised, a user may withdraw the purchase within 3 months from the date the product was supplied, or within 30 days from the date the user became aware or could have become aware of that fact.

Where a lawful withdrawal of purchase is recognized, the refund is processed in accordance with the periods and methods set out in applicable laws. The mere fact that a store's refund procedure is used does not limit a user's rights under applicable laws.

c. Promotional offers

The Company may offer Paid Products free of charge or at a discounted price for marketing or event purposes. For a product received free of charge without consideration, no refund or conversion into a cash equivalent may be claimed. However, for a discounted product for which a user paid part of the price, the withdrawal and refund provisions of this section apply on the basis of the amount actually paid. The quantity, period, eligibility, and method of provision are as determined by the Company and are explained on the relevant promotion screen.

10. Restrictions on Use of the Service

Where a user violates Section 6 or falls under any of the following, the Company may restrict provision of the relevant feature or suspend the right to use a Paid Product.

  • Where the user has used the payment or refund process improperly, or circumvented advertising or payment
  • Where the user has interfered with the operation of the Service by abnormal means or caused harm to other users
  • Where the user has used the Service in violation of applicable laws

Because the Service does not operate accounts, restrictions on use are applied within the scope of the features the Company provides or the rights granted through a store. The Company gives notice of the grounds and content of the measure through the Service website, and in urgent cases may take the measure first and give notice afterwards.

A user may raise an objection to a measure through the contact point in Section 15, and where the objection is well founded the Company lifts the measure without delay.

11. Termination of the Use Agreement

Because the Service does not operate accounts, there is no separate withdrawal procedure. A user may end use of the Service at any time by deleting the app, and no notice to the Company or approval by the Company is required.

Deleting the app also deletes the document copies, converted output, and app settings held on the device. Because the Company does not store these, deleted data cannot be recovered. Please keep any documents you need in another location before deleting the app.

Rights in a non-consumable Paid Product already purchased remain with the store account, so they can be recovered after reinstalling the app through Settings > Restore purchase. Deleting the app does not constitute a refund of a Paid Product.

If the Company discontinues provision of the Service, it will post the planned discontinuation date and the reasons in advance in accordance with the procedure set out in Section 2.

12. Personal Information Protection

The Company protects users' personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea and other applicable laws. Matters concerning the collection, use, provision, outsourcing, overseas transfer, retention period, and destruction of personal information are set out in a separate Privacy Policy.

The Service does not operate accounts and does not automatically transmit the documents a user opens to a server. Information that leaves the device is limited to the following three categories.

  • Information required for advertising delivery (Section 8)
  • Diagnostic information generated when an error occurs
  • Information a user enters or attaches themselves when sending an in-app inquiry (Section 15)

In the first two categories, the contents, file names, and storage paths of documents are automatically masked before transmission. The third is limited to what the user selects themselves on screen; the Company does not collect it at its own discretion. Further details can be found in the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimer

  • The Company is exempt from responsibility where it cannot provide the Service due to causes beyond its control, such as natural disasters, war, suspension of service by a telecommunications carrier, or hacking.
  • The Company is not responsible for failures originating in the user's own environment, such as the user's device, operating system, storage, network, or printer.
  • The Company is not responsible for consequences arising from the limits of rendering, conversion, and printing set out in Section 4, and in particular for damage arising because a user relied solely on the Service's rendered result or converted output in making a judgment, filing, or entering into a contract.
  • The Company is not responsible for damage arising because a user did not obtain the result they expected from using the Service.
  • The Company is not responsible for disputes or damage arising because a user viewed, converted, or distributed a document without proper authority.
  • The Company is not responsible for the loss or corruption of documents or output stored on the device. The Service does not provide server storage or backup (Section 4 f.).
  • The Company is not responsible for transactions between a user and a third party such as an advertiser or a store operator.

The Company is not liable in connection with the use of the Service provided free of charge, unless otherwise specifically provided by applicable laws.

The Company's liability in connection with Paid Products is limited, to the extent permitted by applicable laws, to the amount paid by the user concerned.

The limitations of liability in this section do not apply to damage caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence, and do not limit rights guaranteed to users by applicable laws.

14. Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction

The laws of the Republic of Korea apply to the interpretation of these Terms and to disputes between the Company and users.

If a dispute arises in connection with use of the Service, the Company and the user resolve it through consultation in accordance with the principle of good faith, and lawsuits concerning disputes not resolved by consultation are filed with the court of jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of Korea.

Before filing a lawsuit, a user may apply for mediation of the dispute to relevant bodies such as the Consumer Counseling Center of the Korea Consumer Agency or the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee.

However, if the user is a consumer residing outside the Republic of Korea, rights guaranteed by the mandatory provisions of that country are not limited.

15. Contact

  • Company: CodeSand Co., Ltd.
  • Email: hanjjok@reply.codesand.co.kr
  • Hours: Weekdays 10:00–18:00 (KST, excluding public holidays)
  • In-app inquiry: Settings → Feedback (Bug report · Feature request · Other inquiry)

Only at the moment a user sends an in-app inquiry, the content the user entered and the files the user selected and attached themselves are transmitted to the Company's inquiry intake server. This is the only case in which information is transmitted to the Company's servers by a user's action in the Service, and it is an exception to the principle in Section 4 f. and Section 5 that documents are stored only inside the device. The specific items transmitted and matters concerning their retention period and destruction are set out in the Privacy Policy.

a. Attached files

The attachment list always starts out empty, and only files the user selects themselves on screen are transmitted. A document a user has open is never attached by itself.

Attached files are used solely for the purpose of reviewing and answering the inquiry and are not used for any other purpose or provided to third parties. However, because an attached file is delivered to the Company as it is, users should decide whether to attach a file taking into account sensitive content such as personal information or trade secrets contained in the document. We recommend attaching only the minimum files needed to reproduce the problem.

b. Replies and handling

Because the Service has no accounts, the only means by which the Company can contact a user is the email address the user provides. If no email address is provided, the inquiry is still received and reflected in improvements to the Service, but we cannot send a reply.

The Company answers inquiries received in good faith, but does not guarantee a reply to every inquiry or the implementation of any requested feature.

Supplementary Provisions

Effective Date: September 24, 2026 (originally effective May 29, 2026)

These Terms supersede the previous Terms.
